CHINO, CA – On June 22, 2022, at approximately 9:45 p.m., California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officers working at the Prado Conservation Camp (14467 Central Avenue) contacted the Chino Police Department to report the walk away of inmate Kyle Summers, a 30-year-old male out of Santa Rosa, who was incarcerated at the facility for felony evading. CDCR officers saw Summers running northbound from the facility and requested assistance from the Chino Police Department.
The Chino Police Department requested mutual aid from the Ontario Police Department, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and the Claremont Police Department. Officers and Deputies from Chino, Ontario, and the Sheriff’s Department were able to quickly establish a large perimeter. Bloodhound tracking dogs from Claremont PD and the Sheriff’s Department conducted a search within the perimeter and located some of the inmate’s clothing in the 14500 Block of Longwood Avenue.
The inmate was then spotted by the Sheriff’s Department helicopter hiding under bushes in the side yard of a residence. Chino Police Officers then took him into custody without incident and released him into the custody of CDCR Officers at 12:31 a.m.
