With Memorial Day approaching, this is a time to reflect on the sacrifices the brave men and women of our Armed Forces have made to protect this great nation. We are honored to be a part of a community makes it a priority to show its appreciation in a variety of ways.
First, The American Legion is hosting their Annual Memorial Day event next Monday, May 30 at the Chino Community Building (5443 B Street) at 10:00am. This is an hour-long ceremony that includes a 21 Gun Salute and a special presentation by the Women’s Auxiliary.
If you can’t make the Memorial Day event, the Chino Liberty Courtyard offers a place of peace, tranquility and reflection. The Courtyard, located at the Chino Community Building (5443 B Street), was a project of the Community Services Commission and features five-pillars as a salute to each branch of the U.S. military.
The Chino Liberty Courtyard is decorated with over 350 inscribed bricks that were part of the initial fundraiser but are still available for purchase and are a great way to honor your loved one. Visit the Chino Liberty Courtyard Page for more information.
Lastly, Central Avenue will look especially patriotic on Memorial Day, May 30, as American flags will adorn the street in the downtown area thanks to our local Kiwanis Club. Over 200 flags are placed up and down Central Avenue and make for a stunning tribute to our fallen soldiers. Be sure to see them before they’re taken down at around 4:00pm.
