Message from the City Manager - Construction
Construction has been an unfortunate growing pain in Chino over the last several years, an inconvenience that has affected some areas, like The Preserve, more than others. I realize that many of these closures cause ongoing disruptions to your routines, they’re a headache and can be very frustrating. While in the end the construction will greatly improve the surrounding area, I understand how it can feel never ending. I appreciate your endurance and continued patience during this time. Rest assured our traffic engineering staff is continuously monitoring the traffic situation.
We are working hard to improve this experience for you. Here are a few adjustments we have made and while they won’t eliminate the inconvenience, they may reduce some of the impact:
- Asking the contractors to complete work overnight when there are fewer vehicles on the road.
- Implementing a flagging operation instead of a full closure when safe to do so.
- Imposing fines on the developer for working outside their set schedules.
- Improving communication and pushing out the most updated information as soon as we receive it. Bookmark the City's Road Closure Page, that’s where you can see the current closures and sign up for the road closure newsletter.
We are continuously reviewing and looking for ways to minimize impacts for our residents. As I mentioned earlier, I am a strong proponent of communication, if you have any ideas or would like to reach out, I would love to hear from you.
Come to a council meeting on the first or third Tuesdays at Chino City Hall beginning at 7:00pm
