On April 2, 2023, at 2:07 a.m., Chino Police Officers responded to the 5400 block of Philadelphia Avenue regarding a possible dead body. Responding officers located a male subject in the parking lot who had been the victim of a shooting. The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officers determined the subject was the victim of a homicide. The victim was later identified as Philip Hernandez, a 51-year-old resident of Chino.
During the investigation, Detectives determined that Taylor Sanchez, a 21-year-old resident of Chino, was involved in the shooting. On April 3, 2023, at 4:15 pm, Detectives located Sanchez in the 13300 block of Central Avenue and arrested him. In addition to his arrest, a search warrant was served at Sanchez’s residence.
Sanchez was later booked at West Valley Detention Center for Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
