[ARCHIVED] Capital Improvement Program Update

Sewer and Storm Drain

Did you notice there were fewer road closures during the most recent storm?

The heavy rain that Chino received over the week of January 9th is a reminder of the importance of proper infrastructure to prevent flooding. The Public Works Department has been working hard on three Capital Improvement Projects focused on sewer and storm drain improvements in the north Chino area. The projects include:

Storm Drain Improvement for the 3 System Storm Drain Project on Ross, Walnut and Magnolia from Riverside Drive to Boxwood Lane

Storm Drain and Street Improvements for Salem Street and Carissa Avenue

Storm Drain Improvement for the Benson Avenue Storm Drain Extension

The last occurrence of such heavy rainfall in the Chino area was in 2019, which resulted in five road closures in the northern region of the city due to flooding. Thanks to the efforts of the Public Works Department, these projects have been successful in reducing the risk of flooding and preventing property damage, while also managing the quality of stormwater runoff.  The result was that there were no road closures in north Chino during the last storm event.
