Chino, CA – Assemblymember Michelle Rodriguez (D-Ontario) has named City of Chino Councilmember Karen Comstock as Assembly District 53’s 2025 Woman of the Year. Comstock, a tireless advocate for public safety and community engagement, was honored during the Women's History Month celebration hosted by the Legislative Women’s Caucus.

“I am proud to recognize City of Chino Councilmember Karen Comstock as the Woman of the Year in Assembly District 53,” Assemblymember Rodriguez stated. “Her groundbreaking tenure as the first female Chief of Police for the Chino Police Department demonstrated her innovative spirit, deep community connections, and commitment to proactive crime prevention. Karen's passion and dedication make her an extraordinary advocate for our community.”

Mayor Eunice Ulloa echoed these sentiments, stating, "Councilmember Karen Comstock exemplifies the very best of Chino through her dedication, courage, and unwavering commitment to public service. Her trailblazing career and continued advocacy have opened doors for countless women and positively impacted our entire community. We congratulate Karen on receiving this distinguished recognition and thank her for being an exceptional role model and leader."

Reflecting on the honor, Councilmember Comstock shared, “I am deeply honored to receive this recognition as Woman of the Year for Assembly District 53. Serving the Chino community has been a privilege of a lifetime, and I am committed to continuing our work to foster a safe, supportive, and thriving environment for all our residents. This honor reflects the collective efforts and spirit of our City, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead and serve alongside such dedicated individuals.”

With a distinguished 34-year career in law enforcement, Comstock transitioned into public office to continue serving Chino. Beyond her work in government, Councilmember Comstock is an active leader in the community, serving on boards and organizations such as the Soroptimist Club of the Chino Valley and the Community Health Service Alliance. Her dedication has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Spirit of Achievement Award in 2018. A lifelong Chino resident, she has deep roots in the city, having attended local schools before earning her degrees in Business and Organizational Management. She remains committed to shaping the future of Chino through her passion for public service and community betterment.
