Three Arrested in Alcohol Enforcement OperationLast Friday, February 22, 2019, Chino Police Investigators, in partnership with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted a “shoulder tap” operation at various ABC-licensed establishments in the City of Chino.

During the operation, investigators supervised underage volunteers who asked patrons to purchase alcohol for them at the ABC-licensed establishment. Over 50 patrons were contacted, resulting in three arrests.

Teena Rodriguez, age 32 of Baldwin Park, and Juan Olea, age 22 of Visalia, were arrested for furnishing alcohol to someone under 21 years of age. During the investigation involving Olea, investigators contacted Urbano De La Cruz, age 28 of Visalia, the driver of the vehicle Olea was in, and discovered De La Cruz was driving under the influence of alcohol. A search of his vehicle resulted in discovery of a loaded revolver next to the driver’s seat. He was subsequently arrested for DUI and carrying a loaded firearm.

De La Cruz and Olea were booked at the West Valley Detention Center. Rodriguez was cited and released.

Funding for this operation was provided through the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Grant Assistance Program (GAP). The program is designed to shut down any businesses operating illegally, keep alcohol away from minors, and bring penalties such as fines, suspensions, or revocations against businesses that violate laws.
