60 Swarm

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on the Bridge Replacement Project on State Route 60 (SR-60), part of the 60 Swarm to replace Pipeline Avenue, Monte Vista Avenue and Benson Avenue bridge structures.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on the Bridge Replacement Project on State Route 60 (SR-60), part of the 60 Swarm, to replace the Pipeline, Monte Vista and Benson Avenue bridges.


The HOV lane has returned to CARPOOL ONLY within the project area.

A traffic reconfiguration will be in place on SR-60 from Archibald Avenue to Euclid Avenue allowing work to take place behind k-rail. Lanes will be available in each direction on SR-60 during.

The speed limit is 55 mph in the project limits and is a “double fine zone”.
Construction work may cause minor vibrations and noise during construction hours. We appreciate your patience while crews work diligently to complete the project.

Planned Road Closures

Kimball Avenue from Rincon Meadows to Euclid Avenue
Full closure through December 2021 to complete road improvements including the installation of underground utilities, raised mediums and the installation of a large storm drain to help reduce flooding in the area. It will also be widened to four lanes, with two lanes in each direction.

Merrill Avenue from Bon View Avenue to Euclid Avenue
Full closure. Traffic control will be set up through the entirety of the work activities. Construction work hours are from 7:00pm to 4:00am. Work includes installation of (2) 6" diameter PVC pipelines and installation of 60" diameter manholes that will transport brine from the Chino Eastside Treatment Facility to the SAWPA Chino I Treatment plant on Kimball Ave


SBCTA Central Avenue Interchange Project

Street sign of Central AvenueIn an effort to improve traffic flow along Central Avenue and SR 60 access for the local community, the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) and the City of Chino, in cooperation with the Caltrans District 8, will widen the Central Avenue interchange at the SR 60 bridge to accommodate three through-lanes and double left-turn lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions and will widen the existing eastbound and westbound on-ramps to SR 60 from one lane to two through lanes and a carpool lane.

Construction is dynamic and the schedule is subject to change.

In observance of Thanksgiving, there will be no construction activity on Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28.

Intermittent lane closures on EB SR 60 between Ramona Avenue and Central Avenue nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Intermittent lane closures on WB SR 60 between Mountain Avenue and Central Avenue nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Caltrans SR-71 Slab Replacement

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on a $4.2 million slab replacement project on State Route 71 (SR-71) in and near Chino and Chino Hills. The project features bridge deck approach resurfacing, slab replacement and installation of polyester concrete from the LA / San Bernardino County line to just south of the Santa Ana Riverbed.
