The Chino Police Department is comprised of more than 150 employees, both sworn and professional, and over 50 dedicated volunteers. We serve more than 85,000 residents within 30 square miles. The Chino Police Department handles over 9,600 calls for service each month and provides full-service operations under the Operations Division and Support Services Division. 

Operations Division:
The Operations Division encompasses the Patrol Bureau, Traffic Unit,  Communications, Real-Time Crime Center, and Canine Unit. Their primary focus is to provide the day-to-day 24/7 police services to the community. They are the Department’s most visible presence and initial point of contact for the citizens.

The primary function of the Patrol Bureau is to provide a highly visible police presence to deter criminals. Patrol Bureau members employ timely, courteous and professional service to the community with a focus on the
Chief’s Strategic Vision of fighting crime.

K-9 Officers and Police Service Officers also provide a vital support function to the Patrol Bureau.

The Communications Center is staffed 24 hours per day and handles both emergency and non-emergency calls. They play a pivotal role in the Department's efforts to meet increasing demands for police services. They answer an average of over 9,600 calls per month while ensuring that resources were dispatched rapidly and efficiently.

The Traffic Unit is responsible for traffic safety throughout the city and the investigation of significant or fatal traffic collisions. This is accomplished through public education, enforcement, and engineering.

Support Services Division:
The Support Services Division provides essential investigative, administrative, community outreach, and logistical assistance to further the Department's function of public safety. It includes the Criminal Investigations, Professional Standards, Professional Services, and Readiness, Education, and Outreach Bureaus.

Within the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Detectives, Special Enforcement Team Officers, and Crime Analysts conduct follow-up on patrol cases that do not result in an arrest and investigate investigations on gangs, graffiti, narcotics, and other quality of life issues. 

Professional Standards is tasked with all aspects of police personnel hiring, evidence collection, risk management, training, and budget.

The Department's fleet, facilities, and Records Unit fall under the direction of the Professional Services Bureau. This includes the maintenance, support, and management of police vehicles, equipment, technologies, and buildings.

The Readiness, Education & Outreach Bureau (REO) combines the functions of Emergency Management, Crime Prevention, and Community Outreach under one bureau. In addition, all adult volunteer programs are also under the supervision of the REO Bureau.

Additional Services:
The Chino Police Department has several additional ancillary teams that provide assistance to the Divisions and community, as needed. This includes the SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations, Honor Guard, Off-Road Enforcement, Bike Team, Mobile Field Force and Crisis Intervention Team.
