City reminds community only "safe and sane" are permitted; increased enforcement.

Fireworks are a long standing tradition during the Independence Day celebration in Chino. The City of Chino would like to remind all residents about the City Ordinance regulating the use of fireworks:

  • The Chino Municipal Code only allows for the sale and discharge of “safe and sane” fireworks from July 1 to July 4.
  • Fireworks are NOT allowed outside of a residential zone, in any public park, south of Pine Avenue or on the Airport property.
  • The inappropriate use of “safe and sane” fireworks is a $500 fine. Using it outside of a residential zone, on days other than July 1-4, or modifying the device to do something other than it was designed for is illegal and subject to the fine.
  • Possession of illegal fireworks is a $1,000.00 fine. This includes any firework that explodes, flies in the air, or does not have the “safe and sane” State Fire Marshall official symbol.

Furthermore, Chino PD will be increasing enforcement efforts as the 4th of July approaches and will continue to for a period afterward. To date, approximately 504 pounds of fireworks have already been seized.

Uniformed personnel consisting of officers, professional support staff, and volunteers will be working the annual Fireworks Spectacular July 1, 2017.

Once again, the City of Chino will partner with Chino Girls Fastpitch to present the Chino Fireworks Spectacular: “A Salute to Our Armed Forces” Saturday, July 1, 2017, from 3:00 – 9:30 p.m. at Ayala Park. During the event, the City will recognize Chino’s servicemen and women during a special presentation at 7 p.m. Event attendees will enjoy two patriotic performances by the band, “TimeBomb,” at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. as well as a spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m. All are invited to spend the afternoon and evening at the park with family and friends. Food vendors will be open for business starting at 3 p.m., along with a variety of vendors. There will also be carnival rides.

An app is available, for community members, watching the Firework display and are not able to hear the program. This app is offered through the Firework Spectacular vendor and can be downloaded at the app store for both iOS and Android devices. With this easy-to-use app, audiences will be able to stream the show’s music from within the venue, in the parking lot, across the street, or from their favorite nearby vantage point.

To report illegal use of fireworks, residents are strongly encouraged to call Chino PD at 909-628-1234.
