The Building Division is mandated by Health & Safety Code State laws and is responsible for enforcing the Uniform Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and National Electrical Codes. The Building Division is also responsible for enforcing State-mandated requirements, issuing building permits and takes in plans for review. Visit the Building Division page for more information.


The Chino Planning Division is responsible for the City’s physical planning, which includes development review, analysis, and compliance; environmental review, long range planning, and development policies through the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and Specific Plans. Visit the Planning Division page for more information. 


Title 20 of the Chino Municipal Code is the City's Zoning Ordinance. The purpose of the Zoning Ordinance is to designate, regulate and restrict the location and use of buildings, structures and land for agricultural, residential, commercial, and industrial uses.
