Invocations at City Council Meetings

Print

The City Council makes it a policy to invite members of the clergy within the City of Chino to voluntarily offer a prayer before the beginning of City Council meetings.

If you are a leader of one of the religious congregations with an established presence in the local community of the City of Chino, or a chaplain for one of the fire departments or law enforcement agencies within the City, you are eligible to offer this important service at an upcoming meeting of the City Council.

If you would like to assist the City Council in this regard, please contact the City Clerk at 13220 Central Avenue, Chino, CA 91710 or via email at arobles@cityofchino.org. Clergy are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve, or other random basis. City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. If you have a preference among the dates, please provide that information when volunteering your services.

Volunteers serving in this capacity are free to offer an invocation of their own conscience. To maintain a spirit of respect and ecumenism, the City Council requests only that the prayer opportunity not be exploited as an effort to convert others to the particular faith of the invocational speaker, nor to disparage any faith or belief different from that of the invocational speaker.
