July 11, 2017 - Special Municipal Election

On July 11, 2017, a Special Election will be held to submit Measure H to voters within the City of Chino. Voters will decide whether to amend the Chino General Plan and the Chino Municipal Code. The Registrar of Voters of the County of San Bernardino will conduct the special election and canvass the returns for Measure H. Below is the ballot question; key dates and deadlines; documents and general information.

Shall Ordinance No. 2017-004, entitled “An Ordinance of the People of the City of Chino, California, to Enact Section No. 20.15.160 of the Chino Municipal Code Converting 29.7 Acres From the General Plan Designation of RD 1 to RD 4.5, RD 8, and RD 12 Generally Located Between Vernon Avenue and Benson Avenue, South of Adams Street, and North of the Chino Promenade Shopping Center and rezoning the same from an RD 1 designation to RD 4.5, RD 8, RD 12 designations” be adopted?

  • Political Signs: For the July 11, 2017 Special Election, signs may only be displayed starting May 27, 2017, and must be removed by July 16, 2017. Additionally, City of Chino Municipal Code Chapter 16.05 requires individuals to file a Political Sign Registration form with the Community Development Department before displaying political signs. Click here to access the Political Sign Registration Form. Forms are also available at City Hall, Planning Division located 13220 Central Avenue, Chino or by calling (909) 334-3253.

Primary arguments are due by April 18, 2017 by 5:30 pm, shall not exceed 300 words, and shall be accompanied by a Statement Form 9600. Rebuttal arguments are due by April 28, 2017 by 5:30 pm, shall not exceed 250 words, and shall be accompanied by a Statement Form 9600.

The City Council placed one (1) measure on the ballot for a Special Municipal Election that was held on March 24, 2015.  Below is information regarding the measure.

Measure V:

General Plan Amendment

Shall the General Plan of the City of Chino be amended to change the land use designation of 12.75 acres of vacant land from General Commercial to Residential-RD12, generally located on the west side of Central Avenue, north of Francis Avenue, for a maximum of 113 single-family dwelling units?

July 8, 2014 - Special Municipal Election

The City Council placed three (3) measures on the ballot for a Special Municipal Election that was held on July 8, 2014.  Below is information regarding the measures.

Measure H:

General Plan Amendment

Shall the General Plan of the City of Chino be amended to change the land use designation of 11.6 acres of vacant land from General Commercial to Residential-RD12, generally located south of Schaefer Avenue between Fern Avenue and Euclid Avenue, for a maximum of 127 single-family dwelling units?

Measure I:

General Plan Amendment

Shall the General Plan of the City of Chino be amended to change the land use designation of 7.7 acres of vacant land from General Commercial to Residential-RD12 and change the land use designation of 1.5 acres of land from General Commercial to Residential/Agriculture-RD2, generally located on the east side of Central Avenue, approximately 600 feet north of Francis Avenue, for a maximum of 94 single-family dwelling units?

Measure J:

General Plan Amendment

Shall the General Plan of the City of Chino be amended to change the land use designation of 12.7 acres of land from Business Park to Residential-RD8, of 7.7 acres of land from Business Park to Residential-RD12 and of 18.1 acres of land from Residential-RD2 to Residential-RD4.5, generally located north of Eucalyptus Avenue between San Antonio Avenue and Euclid Avenue, for a maximum of 203 single-family dwelling units?

November 5, 2013 - Special Municipal Election

The City Council placed one (1) measure on the ballot for a Special Municipal Election that was held on November 5, 2013.  Below is information regarding the measure.

Measure B:

General Plan Amendment

Shall the General Plan of the City of Chino be amended to change the land use designation of 6.48 acres of vacant land from General Commercial to Residential-RD8 and of 5.31 acres of vacant land from Office Commercial to Residential-RD8, generally located at the southeast corner of Riverside Drive and Fern Avenue, for a maximum of 94 single-family dwelling units?
