The City of Chino understands the importance of having a strong workforce base.  It is the City's priority to work closely with various educational institutions to provide curriculum and training opportunities for Chino residents to advance their skills.  For over 10 years, the City has partnered with local colleges and universities to bring the following programs to Downtown Chino:

In 2000, the City of Chino and Chaffey College opened the Chaffey College Chino Center on the southwest corner of Central Avenue and C Street and offered a shorter commute for Chino residents who attended the Chaffey College campus in Rancho Cucamonga.  The 17,000 square foot satellite campus was a former vacant bank building. The project helped improve a vacant property on the City's man street and brought activity to Downtown Chino.

The construction of the first-of-its-kind Chaffey College Information Technology Center (ITC) in 2002 was the second joint project between the City of Chino and Chaffey College. Again, vacant, underutilized lots in Downtown Chino were purchased and a 23,000 square foot, three story educational facility was constructed.  The building’s classroom spaces house the college’s computer information technology and electronics classes, with curriculum certified by major IT developers such as Cisco and Interasys. The center also provides specialized training for local businesses and industries.  Today the facility houses the Economic Development Department at Chaffey College and provides workforce job training and community education programs.

The success of the ITC and the Chaffey Chino Center has in part resulted in the construction of a 100-acre Chaffey College Chino campus off of Central Avenue and Edison Street in the City of Chino.  Classes began in the main Administration Building in the Spring 2008 and construction was completed on the Chaffey College Chino Community Center in January 2009.
